Full-In-Depth Review of the Samsonite Outline Pro Spinner Luggage

Material and Water-Resistance (13/15)

As we've mentioned above, the Samsonite Outline Pro has a polypropylene hardshell. That makes the luggage resistant to different weather conditions. No matter what the weather conditions are or at what temperature you're traveling with your luggage, the Samsonite Outlines can easily withstand different temperature changes.

The Samsonite Outline Pro also comes with water resistance capability, which helps you stay dry and clean against rain throughout the journey. If you're someone who frequently travels across the world for business purposes and frequently meets rainy weather, worry not with the Samsonite Outline Pro.

Whatever item you have in your luggage, whether it be documents, clothes, or electronics, you can be stress-free; they won't get wet because of the hardshell plastic. However, in heavy rain or thunderstorms, water can pass through the zippers and stitching, so for light and moderate rain, the Outline Pro proves to be perfect and works well.

Quality and Durability (18/20)

As we mentioned above, the Samsonite Outline Pro is made from polypropylene. Polypropylene is known for being a lighter material; in fact, it's the lightest material. In terms of durability, polycarbonate is the strongest and most durable material.

However, the difference is not that much; polycarbonate is slightly more durable than polypropylene, so you can rest assured that the Samsonite Outlines Pro is exceptionally durable. More importantly, it's flexible as well, which makes it extremely hard to break.

If you deliberately try to break it, jump over it; you can't break it. Compared to other Samsonite suitcases, it's one of the lightest suitcases.

Talking about the other elements of the Outline Pro, the zippers, wheels, and grab handles are also well-crafted and durable. However, the telescopic handle is not as durable as we expected; it feels a little flimsy.

Compartment, Organization, and Expansion (15/15)

Talking about the interior of the Samsonite Outline Pro, we're impressed with the organization that Samsonite has offered, because Samsonite generally offers only one zipper divider with not enough pockets, but with the Samsonite Outline Pro, the case is different.

Samsonite Outline Pro opens into two main compartments: the upper compartment features a zippered divider with a big pocket on it, and the other compartment comes with a compression divider and two compression straps.

What we like the most about this compression divider is that it comes with plenty of small and big pockets that you can use for your small items and many other purposes as well. Further, you also get the facility to expand it up to 1.5 inches, no matter which model you go with.

Talking about the carry-on, it easily holds four to five outfits, toiletry bags, several pairs of shoes, and various small items as well, all without expanding it.

Additional Features of the Samsonite Outline Pro (7/10)

Wheels and Maneuverability

The Samsonite Outline Pro features dual spinner wheels, which means two wheels at each corner, making a total of eight wheels. Comparing it with single-spinner wheel suitcases, the Outline Pro is much more stable and balanced.

What we love about the suitcase is that when you travel with it, it glides very smoothly and makes you realize that you're carrying nothing, even when the suitcase is filled. The suitcase feels even more balanced, especially when it's filled with stuff because it divides the weight of belongings evenly.

But when it comes to getting around obstacles, two wheels compared to four proved to be more convenient. Apart from this, you can carry the Outline Pro in airports, hotels, or streets; it easily maneuvers with almost no effort.

TSA-Approved Lock

Starting with the TSA-approved lock, the Samsonite Outline Pro features a TSA-approved lock on all its sizes, including 20, 24, and 28-inch suitcases. These are 3-digit combination locks that you can open with the help of a code.

Once you lock the Samsonite Outline Pro, no one can open it except you and TSA inspection officers. So you can rest assured that your belongings are safe throughout your journey.

If you want to know everything about the TSA-approved lock in detail, you can read this extensive guide on the TSA-approved lock.

Adjustable Handle

Talking about the adjustable handle, the handle comes with a soft-touch push button that you can use to adjust it according to your height. The good thing about the handle is that it's adjustable at every inch and goes from the height of 36 inches up to 41 inches, so it becomes convenient for you to carry two suitcases in one hand.

But as we mentioned above, the handle seems a little flimsy, which is the problem with almost all the suitcases, even with the premium ones. Apart from the main telescopic handle, the Outlines Pro also has two grab handles, one at the top and the other at the side of the luggage, that add convenience when you load your luggage in your car trunk or the overhead compartments.

However, Samsonite could have added a bottom handle as well to add even more convenience, especially when lifting and loading the luggage in the overhead compartments. That's surely a minor setback.

USB Port Charging Facility

Samsonite has gone beyond and also offered a charging facility in the Samsonite Outline Pro carry-on luggage. This feature is useful, especially for newer generations who travel with their tablets, phones, and other rechargeable electronics.

With the help of the USB charging port given on the exterior of the luggage, just beside the TSA lock, you can connect your device with a cable, and you're good to go. This feature is especially useful when waiting at airports with your luggage and helps you connect with the world.

But keep in mind that the Samsonite Outline Pro comes only with the feature, and the battery is not included; you'll have to use your own.

Design and Appearance (8/10)

When you compare the Outline Pro with other Samsonite suitcases, you'll find it more futuristic and modern. It somewhat resembles the Samsonite Freeform hardside luggage, but in my personal opinion, the Samsonite Outline Pro looks more stylish than the Freeform.

Samsonite has paid attention not only to the main body but also to the small elements like zippers, wheels, locks, and inside the luggage as well. The Samsonite logo in the middle and the ribbed pattern on the luggage look awesome.

If you look at the zippers and the straps inside the luggage, Samsonite tried to give it the same color that the luggage itself has. Moreover, Samsonite offers more than 5 color options that you can choose from; each color is unique and appealing, and they can make you stand out from the crowd, ultimately helping you spot your luggage at the baggage carousel.

Dimensions and Weight of the Samsonite Outline Pro(7/10)

The Samsonite Outline Pro comes in four different sizes, as we mentioned in the table below. You can purchase anyone you want, or you can also get the complete 3-piece set of the Samsonite Outline Pro.

ModelsDimensionsWeightExpansionPrice
20" Global Carry-On Luggage22 x 14 x 9 inches6.1lbs1.5-Inch$190
21" Carry-on Luggage23 x 15 x 10 Inches6.4 lbs1.5-Inch$200
24" Medium Checked Luggage27 x 18.7 x 12.25 Inches8.9 lbs 1.5-Inch$240
28" Large Checked Luggage30 x 20.5 x 12.75 Inches10.1 lbs1.5-Inch$280

All Outline Pro suitcases, including carry-on and checked luggage, meet the airlines' restrictions for both carry-on and checked luggage. The general guidelines for carry-ons that almost all airlines follow are that the carry-on or hand luggage should not exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches; some airlines are a little flexible to allow even bigger.

Fortunately, the 20-inch Outline Pro Global Carry-On meets the restriction, so a 21-inch might also be okay to bring.

Talking about the checked luggage, most of the airlines follow the same 62 linear inches of luggage rules, which means the overall dimension of any check-in luggage should not exceed 62 inches, and fortunately, both checked luggage fall within the limit.

Warranty and Services (7/10)

Samsonite offers three types of warranties: 3-year, 5-year, and 10-year, but what you get with Samsonite Outline Pro is a 10-year limited warranty. But similar to other brands, the Samsonite warranty also covers only manufacturing defects.

They don't cover any defects caused by airlines, transportation, wear and tear, or rough handling. Keep that in mind. However, the warranty itself is reliable; you can trust and be assured that Samsonite has covered you.

The good thing about Samsonite is that their authorized dealers are easily available across the globe, so no matter where you live, you can easily get in touch with them in case of any issues, or you can also locate your nearby store.

Price and Value (7/10)

Generally, Samsonite is known for its affordability, but talking about the Samsonite Outline Pro, it's a little pricey. Comparing the sizes of the Samsonite Outline Pro model with those of the Samsonite Freeform, carry-on is around $50, medium check-in is around $60, and large check-in is around $70 more expensive.

When compared to different suitcases from other brands like Delsey, we found the Outline Pro a little pricey, but still, it's worth it because of additional features, better interior organization, and a unique design.

How Does the Samsonite Outline Pro Luggage Compare with Other Suitcases?

Samsonite Outline Pro vs Samsonite Freeform

It'll be excellent if we compare the Samsonite Outline Pro with the Samsonite Freeform luggage because they both resemble each other and have many things in common. Both the Samsonite Outline Pro and the Samsonite Freeform luggage look futuristic and elegant in terms of aesthetics.

However, design is always a subjective choice, but in our opinion, the Samsonite Outline Pro luggage seems more modern and stylish. Talking about the features, the Samsonite Freeform luggage has all the features that the Outline Pro has.

But Outline Pro has the charging facility that Freeform luggage doesn't have. In terms of durability, the Freeform luggage is as durable as the Samsonite Outline Pro because of the same polypropylene material. The Freeform luggage felt a little more convenient maneuvering, especially when getting around obstacles.

The rest are the same; because of the additional features, better design, and organization, the Samsonite Outlines Pro is a little pricier, around $50 to $70. Considering their price, you can choose any of them; both are excellent and worth it.

Samsonite Outline Pro vs Delsey Paris Chatelet 2.0

Another piece of luggage is from the Delsey luggage brand; it's even better than the Samsonite Outline Pro in some aspects. In terms of durability, it's slightly better than the Samsonite Outline Pro just because of the more durable polycarbonate plastic material.

It comes with dual spinner wheels, a telescopic handle, and better organization like the Samsonite Outline Pro, but it doesn't have the charging facility that the Outline Pro has. But the Delsey Chatelet comes with the additional rare feature that it has a wheel brake system, but it's optional.

Another thing about Delsey Chatelet is that because of the patented Securitech zip, it's three times more secure than regular luggage. Thieves are easily able to open any regular suitcase, including the Samsonite Outlines Pro, with the help of a pointed ball pen but with Delsey Chatelet, it's very difficult for them to get into the luggage and steal valuables

Compared to the Samsonite Outline Pro, Delsey Chatelet is way more expensive. So if you love the leather touch design, additional braking feature, and better security, you can surely check out this Delsey Chatelet hardside polycarbonate luggage.

Our Verdict on the Samsonite Outline Pro

The Samsonite Outline Pro is one of our favorite suitcases, especially because of its improved organization, unique design, and features. The luggage is equipped with all the essential features that are required to make travel convenient; additionally, it features a USB charging facility to help you stay charged all the time.

The Samsonite Outline Pro is also weather-resistant, so you can go anywhere with it, whether it's a cold place or a hot place. It's resistant to temperature changes. Apart from this, you don't have to worry about getting your belongings or documents wet or soggy.

No matter whether you're a frequent traveler, an occasional traveler, a business traveler, or whatever the purpose of your travel is, you can surely consider getting the Samsonite Outline Pro.

However, the drawback of the Samsonite Outline Pro is that it feels a bit difficult to maneuver through obstacles and is also pricier than other suitcases from the same brand and other brands as well. But if you're willing to spend a little, the Samsonite Outline Pro is worth it.
